The sun peeked in through a small opening in the curtains, casting a line of light across the bed. Georgia groaned softly, squinting as the light hit her face. Her head throbbed a little, like someone had been banging a drum inside her skull all night. She sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. May was still asleep beside her, one leg hanging off the edge of the bed, her hair a complete mess. Georgia let out a small laugh. “Girl, you look like you fought a whole bear,” she muttered to herself. Carefully stepping out of bed, she walked to the bathroom, trying not to make too much noise. Once inside, she turned on the tap and splashed cold water on her face. It helped a little. Then she brushed her teeth, staring at her tired face in the mirror.
