It didn’t take long before the SUV rolled into a gated property, tall hedges, wide marble steps, and a villa that looked like something out of a movie.
May gasped. "This is where we’re staying?"
Alexander nodded. "Yes. One of my family’s places. Quiet, safe, and close to the best shops."
"Alexander," she said, her voice shaky. "This is... a lot."
He turned to her. "We don’t have to stay long if you’re not comfortable."
May shook her head. "No, I mean... it’s beautiful. I’m just not used to this."
"Then let’s change that."
Inside, the villa was warm and bright. Cream walls, gold touches, soft lights. Everything smelled faintly of roses and fresh linen.
A housekeeper greeted them and helped with their bags. May couldn’t stop looking around.
