"I don't mean to frustrate but I always make the same mistakes."-Halsey, Bad At Love "Have you spoken to Rachel?" Hayley asked as she made dinner. "Yes, ma'am," Silas mumbled depressed. Hayley glanced at her son with critical eyes but when he met them back with a "Please just drop it" face she fell silent. Only replying with a cheerful, "Good."  Rolling his eyes into his salad disgusted, Silas tried not to think of when he spoke to Rachel. But of course, his own mind had to torture him with his life. He had been walking from the woods in nothing but basketball shorts when she caught up with him. Rachel wasn't in his pack, but still managed to appear whenever possible. When she saw him, she stopped her hard cord lurking and strutted over to him smirking.  "Well hello mate." She purred looking him over like he was a slice of meat.  Silas had fought a snarl, he hated her calling him that and didn't make light of showing it. "What are you doing here?" Rachel shrugged amused, "My dad thought it weird we haven't been spending time together, so he thought I should come over and say hi." Blinking up at him flirtatiously Rachel simpered, "Hi."  Rolling his eyes unimpressed, Silas started walking and she fell into step beside him. Silas wasn't a good conversationalist, or maybe he hadn't just wanted to talk to her. But Rachel was relentless with trying to talk to him.  Even if it meant getting one-word replies.  When they were in front of the packhouse a mile adjacent to his family home, Rachel grew irate with Silas ignoring her. Throwing herself in front of him to stop him moving forward she hissed, "Okay listen! Silas, I am here to be your mate! I'm here wasting my afternoon trying to spend time with you, but you're content on being rude. Should I tell your father?"  Silas wanted to rip her throat out and show it to the b***h.  Of course, she'd go and run tell his father, or hers that he wasn't willing to spend time with her. And knowing his father he'd take that as a direct disrespect to his wishes and want to pick a fight.  Approaching Silas with a swing in her step, Rachel slid a hand down his chest seductively. "Let's go find a room. I can make you glad to be mated to me." She purred as she looked up through her long lashes at him.  The one thing Silas didn't understand was his father's pick for him. Rachel was the daughter of a beta, and while her father's pack was semi-decent, they were in no way a threat. And while Rachel was the only unmated she-wolf of rank, everyone knew she was a slut.  And not just your average run of a mill slut either. Rachel had gone down, twerked, sucked, and f****d with every man her father's tried to get to marry her. Only of course for her to get passed up for their true mate.  But it was just Silas' crappy ass luck that his father would prefer her over his true mate.  "I got to go," Silas informed her stepping back from her touch. It made him feel sick and he wasn't going to betray his mate that way. He didn't know her, he didn't know her name, but he wouldn't hurt by sleeping with this thirsty power-grabbing she- b***h.  "Where?" Rachel questioned as Silas began to get dressed in a shirt and sneakers. "I and Maverick are going to speak with someone. It's about how we can approve the pack in the future, maybe returning to the old ways. You can tell that to my father but it'll only cause him to think you're not suited to be my luna. You know, cause my bettering the pack will always come first."  Rachel forced a smile and quickly said, "Oh well, of course! See you later baby." She tried to kiss him but Silas gave her his cheek. Rachel forced another smile as Silas quickly walked away from her, Maverick meeting him at the door with a smile.  "That looked downright painful man." Silas gave him a dry look, "What do you think?"  Maverick scoffed, "That we need to go now before you end up jerking off for the rest of your life."  Silas flipped his friend off as he climbed into his jeep, "So where are we going exactly?" Maverick sighed, "Okay so your mom and dad are so on board for you to be trapped with Rachel, but if we talk to Elder Gregory, maybe he'll be on your side."  Silas smiled, "And maybe when I find my mate, I can be with her! f*****g genius Maverick!" Maverick bowed to him, "Thank you, thank you, I try."  They took the dirt path into the deepest parts of the woods, when they arrived at the dark cabin in the woods, both climbed out growling. Maverick watched Silas' back as he walked up the stairs to the cabin.  Silas knocked and then slowly opened the unlocked door. Both wolves slowly edged in and were greeted with a gruff, "I was wondering when you'd come see me."  Looking to their left both were shocked to see Elder Gregory kicked back in a recliner smoking a pipe. He grinned at them like a shark and ordered them to sit.  As Silas looked the older man over he grinned a little. At almost a hundred years old, Elder Gregory could past for fifty. His brown hair fell to his collar, he had no wrinkles on his pale skin, his big blue eyes were wise and told of battles and experience.  "You were expecting me, sir?" Silas asked respectfully. Elder Gregory looked him over and smiled a little, "You remind me of your brother." Silas was shocked at his elder's statement and mumbled, "You knew my brother?" Elder Gregory laughed a little as he stood up, "You're not the first of Apollo's sons to come to me for help with your father's tyrant ways, yes. He came to me a while back, needing council."  Silas swallowed hard, "For what?" Elder Gregory looked into Silas' eyes and instead asked, "Did you come to talk about your brother or did you have something to ask me?"  Silas nodded and told Elder Gregory his situation and watched the older man maul over it for a moment before sighing, "You got three options, Silas. Either fight your father for the title and mate with who you want, or you can denounce your title, and mate with who you want. Or you can do neither and do as he wants and mate who he's chosen for you."  Sighing Silas mumbled, "But if I denounce my title, I do that, that means my little brother will become alpha. That's Omen stepping right into the s**t storm my father's brewing. Him doing the same thing to him, only worse because he's younger."  Elder Gregory smiled wistfully, "You're a good man Silas, despite how your parents raised you. You're thoughtful, you care about others. But if you don't want your little brother to become alpha, and you don't want this Rachel to be your chosen mate, it seems you only have one choice."  Silas looked at Maverick who looked scared to death. "Fight my father for the title," Silas concluded feeling the bolder of weight on his stomach.
