Seth found himself in the middle of the forest.
He looked around him and, sure enough, he was the only one there. Frustration built up right away. He didn’t like the current situation. Nor does he like the things that he knew that night. Everything was just too much to take in at once. Both the betrayal and, the heavy burden that he needs to carry on his own.
Dracula’s Seed. A crimson crystal of unknown source. It is said that the item was once Dracula’s hearth. Something which crystalized as time went on.
This item lay beside Seth. The vampire took it in his hands right away. Feeling the immensity of the power within the crystal. Enough to attract monsters strong enough to get it from him and, while also pushing away those that do not want to get involved with the object.
As for Seth, he has no other choice but to hold on to it. Thus, he placed the item on a pouch and covered it with a runic spell. It isn’t strong enough to erase the presence of the seed. But it’s powerful enough to decrease the overflowing pressure it released.
“I better get going.” Seth took a deep breath and, began to move.
he has no time to sulk there. He doesn’t have time to grieve the deaths of the vampires who went to the Citadel with him. He needs to do as Zei told him to. It’s the only way to give justice to the deaths of the vampires that fought that night. That’s why Seth shook these frustrations aside. He stood up and, went his way. Towards the location told by his master.
The forest is both thick and dark. There isn’t a single soul in sight. Seth could feel the warmth coming from the monsters nearby but, aside from this, there wasn’t much of a threat. Still, the vampire was careful in his steps. Knowing full well that Helsings could be lurking anywhere. And even if they weren’t there, they could trace his steps if he left any hint for them to follow.
But Seth is not an i***t. He has been trained properly by Zei. He has been taught of all the methods to lessen the likeliness of being followed by a Helsing. And he has mastered all of these. Applying them in that moment as he ran towards his goal.
“Judging by the information master gave me, I’m probably inside the hollow forest.” Seth muttered.
This part is an important information. The hollow forest is the closest place to the area that Zei spoke of. The outskirts of Lumine where a supposed secret base has been established.
Seth also knows that a strong spell would’ve been used in order to leave this place undetected by the Helsings. Luckily, Seth knows his master’s tricks. He doesn’t know all of them of course but, he knows enough to give him confidence that he would find the area…and he did.
After half an hour of travel, Seth finally reached his destination. To the naked eye, it would seem like there is nothing but more trees right in front of him. But to vampiric eyes trained to see runes and alter them, Seth could see a large, thin wall of crimson mana.
“This is some piece of work master.” Seth said.
He tried to make his hand go through it and, there was no reaction. He then tried to slip through and, this was also done without any complications. That is, other than the fact that he suddenly found himself on the right side of the area. Facing the side opposite of the wall.
“So this is the trick.” Seth said, finally understanding the trick.
The barrier doesn’t serve to prevent anyone from entering. Rather, it instantly transports a person to a point outside the barrier, without the individual even noticing it. A high tier spell. Something which would’ve taken years to set up.
“He couldn’t have done this alone. There are surely others beyond this barrier who are working with him.” Seth muttered with a smile creeping on his face. “Alright, it’s time to prove my usefulness.”
Seth activated his [Runic Eyes] the same set of eyes that his master has. With this, Seth can see the runes of the barrier more clearly. Making him see the distinct symbols used as he began deciphering it.
There are a lot of things that could be done to runes embedded on things. It can be altered. It can be destroyed. It can be turned into something else entirely and, it can be temporarily taken down.
What Seth was trying to do at that moment was a mixture of two things. Altering the runes while also taking it down. He knows that he can’t destroy the whole of the barrier. It is simply not something in the capacity of a single vampire. But he can at least make a waypoint for him. He can make a temporary gap in the barrier. Allowing him to pass through without any problem.
Hence, Seth continued to work on this for another couple of minutes. Extending, almost to a whole hour of concentrated and uninterrupted work. Paying off right before the night could reach its darkest. With an opening finally being made.
A small c***k opened for Seth. It wasn’t that wide but, it was big enough for him to pass through. And so he did. Bringing with him Dracula’s Seed as, his eyes widened in shock of what he saw.
A tall, black castle was right before his very eyes. It had vampiric aura oozing all around it and, Seth knew exactly why. This being explained by the dagger pointed at his throat.
“Who are you?”
Seth wasn’t even able to catch the movement of this person. In the blink of an eye, he was suddenly in a position where his life depended on the answer he would give. With the dagger coming dangerously close to his throat.
“I was sent by master Zei.”
“Oh dear.” The dagger was taken away and, the vampire bowed her head. “Forgive me. The order given to me was that I should kill any trespasser to the stronghold.”
“It’s fine.” Seth replied. “Anyway…orders?”
“Oh yes. I’m not the only vampire here you see.”
As soon as the girl said this, Seth felt eyes all looking at him. With a cold chill running down his spine from how carefully he was being looked at. As if they were looking for signs of him being an enemy.
“My name is Cartha.” The girl extended her hand. “You can say that I’m a bit of something like a distant relative of Deithard. Though I’m not as much of a Helsing killer as he is.”
Seth took Cartha’s hand. “I’m Seth. I’m an apprentice of Zei.”
“Ohh you’re the young talent they brought for the Citadel raid.”
The operation done by Seth’s team is an open knowledge to all vampires. That’s why there was no use hiding these things. Neither did Seth intend to do so.
“By the way, you should show that to them you know. I know that you have Dracula’s Seed with you.”
Seth was a bit surprised by this. He did hide some of the Seed’s presence after all. But then again, hiding something as strong as that item probably isn’t gonna work. That’s why he simply did as Cartha told him. Bringing out the pouch but, not the Seed itself.
“It would be dangerous to show it out in the open. We should hurry and perform the ritual for Dracula’s awakening.”
“Right you are.” Cartha said as she held on to Seth’s shoulder. “Shall we get going then?”
Seth’s body went through a familiar sensation. He and Cartha teleported out of the open field they were in. Changing everything around them in the blink of an eye.
A room lit by torches. Fifteen vampires wearing black hooded robes. A large magic circle in the middle. With the glow of crimson, befitting the awakening of the king of vampires.
“Everything is already set. Zei assured us that someone would come here bringing Dracula’s Seed. Although we kinda hoped that it would be him.” Cartha explained. “Anyway, this isn’t the time to be sentimental about these things. We need to get things started so…if you would.”
Seth understood what he needed to do. He took the crystal out of the pouch and, the crimson glow of Dracula’s Seed spread across the room. Momentarily making the vampires stare it at. Enchanted by the terrifying yet oddly beautiful sight before them.
Everyone’s eyes followed the movement of the crystal. Up to the point when Seth finally placed it in the middle of the magic circle. This activated the pre-made spell. Making the runes glow even brighter as the magic circle finally began turning in a clockwise direction.
Streaks of lighting spread across the room and a terrifying howl of wind followed this. It was dangerous to be so close to such a spell. But nobody moved from their place. They continued running the spell. With barriers shielding them from the damage of the lightning.
Meanwhile, Seth stepped back. With Cartha standing right beside him. Both admittedly terrified from the amount of power coming out of the spell.
“You really think that the king of vampires would come out of this spell?” Cartha asked.
“He better.” Seth said. “Because if it’s not lord Dracula that would come out, then all of us might get killed.”
Following Seth’s words is a sudden flash of light. The wind blew everyone away. Shattering even the barriers made by hooded vampires. Throwing everyone against the wall as the fire of the torches were all blown away. Leaving the room in total darkness that is, except for the faint light offered by the magic circle that broke. Allowing them to see the person in the middle of the room.
Right where Dracula, the king of all vampires was supposed to spawn, stood the reincarnated Elizabeth.
