Chapter 5

1097 Words
There is distress in their bond Cypher thought himself a good mate and a good leader capable of protecting his hoard and lovers from outside forces. Of course, he knew he couldn't do that alone, and thankfully for him, the gods had blessed him with the strongest set of mates, all from different species. It was not uncommon to see a pack, a set, a nest, and in his case a hoard of different species, especially from where he came from. What was uncommon though was having their mates outside of their protection and sight. After they had settled in Edremit, now called Ished, when the town was just recovering from the war, and the prophecy of the Unsettled had come, Cypher and his mates had known that one of them was still out there, they tried looking for him earlier but it was futile. They stop trying to find him when Mateo, his seer mate, told them that it wasn't yet time for them to find their Sixth. But three years ago, Mateo had awoken in sweat in the middle of the night, because he had a strange vision, a vision about the emergence of his mate in the town, all of his nest mates were very happy about the development. They had begun to search for him throughout the town, but no positive result came, for a town that didn't hold many people, you will think it will be easier to find someone but it was nothing like that. They eventually slowed down searching for their sixth mate and instead allowed nature and fate to run their course. It was their sixth, their last bond, and the last to complete his hoard, they would find him, they belonged together, but no one knew when. So no one could have predicted that today would be the day that they have all waited for throughout the centuries. And no one had expected that the scenario of them meeting their mate would be of the boy getting lost and showing up on their land after unconsciously breaking their magical barrier which was funny and good because Alexis' barriers were unbreakable by any outside force, only original supernaturals could hold such power or someone from their nest who shared the same bond with Alexis. Mateo's vision said someone was going to find them, and Clavis did, their sixth, they had felt it through their bond the moment the boy had broken through the barrier, and as much as all of them had wanted to meet him, they didn't want to overwhelm him, which is why Mateo was sent to talk to him. But they also knew that making contact with the boy, wasn't only going to settle their magic and bond, but it is going to leave them yearning for the boy even more and it will only get more intense until the boy had bonded with them, It was going to be the same for Clavis too, even though no one knew what the boy's magic was, he was going to crave his mates. So when in the middle of watching his mates try out outfits for the festival later in the night and they were suddenly a distressed call in their bond, and as if on cue, all his mates gasped worriedly at once while looking at each other, but the distress wasn't from them, it was from the bond trying to solidify itself with the already entwined bond that he shared with his mate. "It's Clavis, he is in trouble," Louis said, "My nestling is in trouble, who dares?" The vampire roared and they were answering groans from the rest of the nest. "We don't know that yet, maybe he is just tired, he did mention that he was going to work earlier," Mateo said, trying to convince his mate from leaving their home and going after their last mate red-eyed like that. "No! It's not tiredness, he is feeling scared, something must have scared him." Alexis said walking over to meet Cypher, who immediately extended his hand and pulled in his beautiful mate against his chest, Alexis hummed in relief before continuing, "I didn't tell any of you this because I felt it wasn't important," "You kept something from us?" Louis snarled, "Let him talk!" Cypher ordered ignoring the angry look that the eldest Louis shot him, "Continue Alex," "I'm sorry my beloved, I didn't want to ruin the mood, everyone was so happy about Clavis, and I didn't want to ruin our happy moment," Alexis explained apologetically, "It's fine, my love. I would have done the same thing. I just…continue what you were saying, our mate could be in danger," "He is not, he just needs comfort." Alexis said, "I can feel him, our bond is already settling fast, maybe because of the barrier magic, but I can feel him, it's almost like I can hear him," "That is good then. Is that what you didn't tell us?" "No, I felt strange but familiar presences pass through the border. They were mostly Cherubs and Sirens which is strange because these two sets of beings mostly hide their magic, but they kept it open and even sent out their magic flicks throughout the town as if they were searching for something." Alexis explained, "I didn't think anything of it because many magical creatures loved to attend the festival but now, it is just tugging in my stomach, I hope…" "It's okay my love. Thank you for telling us, you are so good and observant, paying attention to your environment and very high alert on your magic too, such a good boy for us," Louis praised the youngest and the others cooed when he flushed red under the praise of the eldest. "I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier," He mumbled incoherently while leaning into the touch of the oldest, "It's very okay baby. We will look into it." Louis said gesturing at Cypher to take over, The dragon got the message and smiled. He had already planned what his next course of action would be, whosoever was that with the boldness to breach into his territory had it coming but for now, he had more important matters like his last and youngest mate. "Mateo, could you visit him, can you find him?" "Yep. It would be a piece of cake to find him now because of the bond. I'll make sure he is safe and okay." Mateo promised and kissed all of his mates before being ushered out of the house by his eldest mate.
