Mateo meets Clavis
"Have we met before? You seem oddly familiar?" Mateo asked the awestruck boy that seem to have lost his voice,
"Uh-huh, no." Clavis lied, the fellow felt so familiar just like Roseland had felt. "My apologies I didn't mean to venture into your land, I got lost a little bit,"
"You got lost?" Mateo asked amused, "It's almost impossible to get lost in this part of town, are you sure of what you are saying little one?"
Clavis panicked for a bit, wondering what the stranger meant by it's impossible to get lost in this part of town, he knew it was out of bounds but the stranger made it look like there was something else he was hinting at.
"What do you mean by it's impossible to get lost here?"
"I mean that the heart is the only true guide and yours had led you to find this route, which only means that you were meant to be here," Mateo spoke,
"But why?"
"I think you know the answer to that question, don't you, little one?"
"I…" Clavis stuttered,
Mateo chuckled, "No need to rush, little one. I won't tell anyone apart from my mates, this would be our secret for now, no one else has to know."
Clavis looked suspiciously at the stranger that was too nice and friendly and now was even opting to keep secrets for him, but he couldn't come up with anything that might give away the kind stranger, apart from the feelings that sat on his throat and the fluttering feelings churning in the pits of his stomach every time the stranger smiles or chuckles, something he noticed the scold couldn't stop doing.
"Thank you," Clavis said instead, "I should head back on my journey, I'm late for work,
"I'm Mateo, what is your name, little one?"
"Clavis,"
"You shouldn't tell people your name so easily. One of my mates is a fae, do you know what it means if you tell a fae your name?"
Clavis nodded, of course, he knew all about faes and their deals and curses. At least he paid attention during mystery classes.
But that wasn't Clavis's problem right now, his problem was that he didn't feel fear about meeting the said mate but rather felt intrigued and almost excited.
That wasn't normal, no sane human feels excitement about meeting a fae, and no sane human wanders into this part of town.
"Will I see you again, Clavis? Will you be attending the festival tonight?"
"Yes, I will."
"Good. You can go on, I will find you during the festival." Mateo said while retreating into the home he shared with his mates with a fond smile on his face.

"He is so beautiful, " Mateo mumbled to his mates happily as he slumped on the couch where some of his mates gathered to discuss the outcome of the meeting before Alexis announced that they had an intruder in the land.
"Did you even ask him how he found himself here or you were too distracted by his beauty to ask," Alexis asked feigning annoyance and jealousy,
"It's obvious how he found us, how he found this place," Malik said, "We have resided here for centuries and no one has ever stepped foot here on their own except we invite them in or…?"
"They are one of us," Louis said,
"I have always said that we weren't complete, we have one last piece to complete our puzzle," Cypher muttered, "He is the last to complete my hoard but the vision you had, Teo, how does that correspond to him?"
"For the record, I didn't feel any kind of energy from him, it seem he didn't have an aura but I also knew at once that he was my mate, our mate," Mateo said,
"Someone with no energy whatsoever ventured into our land today and also turned out to be our mate on the same day your vision had just become clear enough to be understood and on the day of this festival," Malik illustrated, "Tell me about the fates and stupid destiny,"
"But we were already expecting this, right?"
"Stupid bastards," Alexis hissed,
"But having no aura, don't you guys think that maybe he was part of… never mind," Louis trailed off in defeat as he took in the tense shoulders of his mates.
It was obvious, he was about to breach a sacred topic, one they would rather not speak about, their home, the one all of them had been born in, now only lives in their mind and is not even part of history anymore.
"Maybe someone reincarnated," Alexis murmured, "Or someone might have survived,"
"Shut up Alexis," Malik admonished, "No one survived, accept it and move on,"
He dashed out of the room,
"I got him," Cypher said and followed after Malik. Everyone sighed and looked at Alexis with concerned looks.
Alexis was going to beat himself up and blame himself for ruining the moment, but he really couldn't ignore his instinct. A long time has passed but his heart still holds on to hope that someone survived.
"I didn't mean to upset him, but what if…?"
"No buts Alex, let's enjoy the festival and look forward to meeting our beautiful intruder later, aren't you curious as to what he looks like, the one person that was able to break your barriers and come in,"
"He has no aura, how come you aren't scared of him?"
"I have lived too long to scare over things like that besides, didn't you hear Mateo, he said he is our mate," Louis stated flatly, "Mateo never goes wrong, I mean, it was thanks to him that we had found you too, Alex,"
Alexis sighed, of course, his mates were right, Mateo never goes wrong over matters like that, when he says it's always yes, most likely.
Alexis had no reason to be scared of an intruder that had no energy or aura, in reality, the intruder should be the scared one for intruding into their land, a land that exists in the supernatural realm of the town and it's invisible to human eyes, even most supernatural couldn't see their land yet this intruder didn't just see, but h4 also broke the barrier.
Maybe, that was why Alexis was feeling that way, it was his barrier, his magic, and he was the one that felt when the barrier snapped.
Maybe he was just feeling guilty that his barrier was easily opened and the land he was protecting has been intruded on like that,
"That barrier had been protecting us for a long time, no need to feel guilty that your future mate intruded into it," Malik cautioned from the entrance, he was back in the living room with Cypher holding his hands, his hair looked a little dishevelled and his lips looked swollen.
"Mal…"
"I could tell your thoughts, babe," Malik said, "Don't doubt your skills. Trust us as we trust you."
Alexis hummed happily and he stood up and strode over to Malik, lurching himself on him which made him lose footing and they both found themselves mid-air.
"Thanks, Louis," Malik said, looking over to the sorcerer.
Louis smiled and shrugged.
