Chapter Fifty-Five: The Shift
Kiara's eighteenth birthday
Kiara POV:
"s**t, Kiki, your shifting." I heard Helix say
But nothing registered as I let out an ear-splitting scream.
Someone picked me up; electricity that I had never felt before surged through me as I felt another disk in my spine rearrange—making me scream again.
"We got you, love; we got you."
"Hold on, baby. We're taking you to the field under the moonlight."
The world blurred and spun as the pain seemed to intensify with each passing second. My skin felt as if it were on fire, my body contorting in ways that were both terrifying and unbearable. I was dimly aware of being carried, of the gentle, soothing voices that tried to comfort me.
"We're here, love," Kayden's voice echoed in my ears.
