Introduction
In a collection filled with some of my favorite stories, as well as numerous fan favorites, this one still shines forth for me. It’s why I saved it until last.
So many of the elements of Delta Force that I’ve mentioned before came together in this story: their silence, their adaptability, their drive to make it right, their complete disregard for how awful the environment might be if it gets the job done, and more.
It is also one of the few times I was able to squeeze a team into a short story. It made for one of the longest short stories I’ve ever written, almost double any of the other stories in this collection.
