Capturing moments

(Landon) I don't understand why I agree to these ridiculous excursions with Micah. I only wanted to make him happy, but I really need to start coming up with some form of excuse to not go with him. Right this very minute, he was jumping up and down while pointing at a shirt that was being displayed by the window of a store. I shook my head, not wanting to go there, but he grabbed my hand and dragged me in there without stopping. Half an hour later, we were leaving with at least six bags of clothes. Luckily for me, none of them were those ridiculous cargo shorts that he seems so obsessed with. “Pictures!” Micah shouted, while running towards a fountain. He didn't even take my warning about not running seriously, since now, he was all over the place. “Micah, you need to calm down a little.” I chastised him, which was a big mistake. Tears formed in his eyes and his lips started to wobble. I growled, knowing that I shouldn't have said anything since his hormones were all over the place. “B-But fountain and pictures?” He asked, while sobbing a bit. I sighed, then nodded my head agreeing with him. One thing I couldn't stand, was seeing his tears. He knew that it would affect me, so he was also using it to his advantage. I took out my phone, and he posed for the pictures, some of them made me laugh while the others not so much. Next, we made our way towards several stores which he couldn't pass. I made sure he got everything, even when I was complaining. We finally reached the end of the shopping district, the sun beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the city. Micah, still brimming with energy, tugged at my sleeve, pointing towards an ice cream stand. “Landon, can we get some ice cream?” he asked, his earlier tears now completely forgotten. His eyes sparkled with excitement, so I couldn't say no. “Alright, but just one scoop,” I replied, trying to sound stern but failing miserably as a smile crept onto my face. Micah bounced on his toes as we approached the stand. He ordered a towering cone of rainbow sherbet while I opted for a more modest scoop of chocolate. As we sat down on a nearby bench, Micah chatted animatedly about all the clothes he'd bought and how he couldn't wait to try them on. “You know, Landon,” he said between licks of his ice cream. “I really appreciate you coming with me today. I know it's not your favorite thing to do.” I looked at him and shrugged my shoulders. “Well, someone has to keep an eye on you. Plus, seeing you happy makes it worth it.” Micah's face softened, and he leaned against my shoulder. “Thanks, Landon. You're the best.” We sat there for a while, enjoying our ice cream and watching the people pass by. It was moments like these that reminded me why I put up with Micah's boundless energy and sometimes overwhelming enthusiasm. Despite the chaos, he brought a sense of joy into my life that I wouldn't trade for anything. As the sky darkened, we decided to head home. The bags were heavy, but I wasn't going to complain. Micah's lighthearted chatter kept my spirits up. When we finally reached the hotel, Micah immediately started trying on his new clothes, parading around and asking for my opinion on each outfit. “How about this one?” he asked, stepping out in a bright, floral shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. I couldn't help but laugh. “You look like you're ready for a beach party.” Micah grinned, twirling around. “That's the idea! I've got to be prepared for all occasions.” After the fashion show, we settled down on the bed, exhausted but content. Micah snuggled up next to me, his head resting on my shoulder. “You know,” he murmured sleepily, “we should do this more often. Just spend the day together, having fun.” I smiled, wrapping an arm around him. “Yeah, we should. But maybe next time, we skip the shopping and go straight for the ice cream.” Micah giggled, and we lay there in comfortable silence, the events of the day slowly fading into the background as we simply enjoyed each other's company.
