As I held Christian close, I was thinking about everything that happened. How I'm now a father which was one of the happiest moments of my life.
Dr. Carlyle approached me and smiled when he saw that I was still looking at Christian.
“Congratulations once again Landon,” He said warmly, glancing between Micah, me, and the baby.
“Micah has recovered well, and you’re both free to go whenever you’re ready.” A wave of relief washed over me. It was almost surreal that we were already able to take Christian home already.
I looked at Micah, who was smiling sleepily, looking as if he was ready for a quiet, peaceful place where we could soak in these first moments as a family. But as soon as I stepped out into the hallway, it was clear our peace would have to wait.
