Outside, Medley slipped a small, wrapped rectangle into his hand. "You want to make a good impression." He laughed and popped in the gum, chewing with more enthusiasm than necessary. "Maybe you should have taken Daniel, then." She glared at him as she shoved past the two boys guarding the front door, the light from the street shining from the lenses of her glasses. "I'll be taking that gum back before we get there." Fresco snapped a bubble at her and had to dodge the all-knuckles punch she threw in answer. His happy mood faded as they hurried through the streets to their rendezvous. Medley checked her watch repeatedly, muttering under her breath.
