The Morning After

(Isla) I woke up, groggy, my eyes burned and sleep surrounded me like a blanket, beckoning me back to its embrace. Warm light filtered through the small crack in our curtains and I turned to reach out to Jackson but my fingertips didn't find him. I checked the bedside clock and it was almost 4PM, I knew the warriors from the battle were probably still sleeping or just waking up, Goddess knows how long they stayed up. I wanted to link Jackson but my eyes fluttered shut as I turned over. I tried to reach out to him, to see what he needed help with, but I was pulled back into sleep before I could think it. Something rough but soft was caressing my thigh, my favorite scent of pine and rain settled around me and I breathed in deep without opening my eyes. I felt a rumble in between my legs
