A human's ability to adapt to any situation was truly astounding.  Just a couple of hours after the ghost had revealed himself to the young man called Briar, it was as if it was the most normal thing in the world for someone living and for someone dead to keep each other company. Briar acted as if the past few days didn’t happen. He pretended to forget all about how he’d fainted the first time he saw the ghost, or how he’d trembled in absolute terror when he found out the ghost had been hiding behind him nearly the entire time after.  His ghost was more like Casper, anyway—not like the murderous ones from The Ring or from Shutter.
