Beep-Beep-Beep
"Shut that off," I grumble, "it's annoying the f**k out of me." Opening my eyes, the brightness makes me groan and slam them shut again. Where the f**k am I?
"Medic!" Faylinn's voice rings out, and my heart goes into a panic, the annoying beep picking up so loudly it makes me cringe.
"Faylinn," I say, my voice breaking as dryness grips my throat. A second later, a warmth covers my hand, and in my soul, I know that touch belongs to my wife. "Lights. They're too bright."
Her hand disappears, and a moment later, everything darkens, and I slowly blink, the blazing light gone. At first, there's nothing but whiteness; the beep slows again but is still just as annoying. My vision is blurry for a moment, and I turn my head, my eyes finally focusing on the most beautifu
