  Standing in the bathroom, running my clippers over the last strip of hair on the side of my head, I smile. That was the best few hours of sleep I've had in weeks. I got up and showered, trimmed my beard, and now that the sides and back of my head are shaved down again, I feel like myself. Carrigan is still asleep. It's obvious she's had a lot of late nights while I was gone. Waking up next to her, it hit me hard how much I never want to wake up without her again.   When my father was killed, I inherited a lot of his and my mother's belongings. One of the things was my mother's claddagh— her engagement ring.
