Ashton and Katherine took the first flight back to Manhattan. Ashton was at tenterhooks throughout the journey. He knew that Callie loved her father very much and she would be worried sick for him.
Katherine remained by his side, holding his arm and calming him down. He didn't talk much and remained quiet till they reached home. They didn't get to rest since Ashton wanted to go straight to the hospital.
They freshened up and got to the hospital in the next few minutes. Ashton got to know from Callie's mother that David was undergoing an operation.
He enquired at the reception and marched straight up to the room, not even bothering to wait for the lift. Katherine scurried behind him to match up to his long strides.
