Ashton was startled from his nap by the ear-shattering sound of the thunder. He didn't know when he fell asleep, leaning against the back of his chair but when he woke up, he saw that the whole house was illuminated by a weird kind of darkness that he had never witnessed before. It seemed like the last rays of sunshine had gone missing from his life.  "Kathy.." He knew she would be angry at him and wouldn't want to see him at all. That was why he had left her alone, giving her sometime time to calm down.  When he approached their bedroom, there was calm, the calm that is felt before the storm. A chill ran through his spine.
