The knock at his door came sharp and urgent. Tristan snapped his head up from where he had been leaning against the window, knuckles pressed white against the frame.
“Enter,” he growled, though his voice was lower, rougher than he intended.
Liora stepped inside, Kohl close behind her. Both carried the scent of travel and the faint edge of unease.
“Well?” Tristan demanded, his body tense as a drawn bowstring. “What did you learn?”
