The fire alarm went off and I ran to the back of the gate as fast as my legs could carry me. Initially, I hesitated to touch the fence, fearing that the electrical outlet might be live. But when I realized I didn’t have much time, I took a deep breath and touched it quickly.
Relieved it wasn’t electrified, I attempted to climb, despite my lack of skill. I heaved myself up and rolled over to the top, landing on the other side, outside the house
My legs were shaking and my breathing was labored. I had no idea what was happening at the gate and I was scared that I was going to get caught.
