Chapter 42

Max was annoyed, the game had been stuck in one scene for a while. His avatar wouldn't move and the ally request he sent was yet to be accepted. A notification suddenly pops up on the game. Max clicked the notification, it revealed a picture of Dave and Joshua. It was followed by the caption 'the Bitchy Bandit Brothers.' (Villians who disguise as travelers, and deceive fellow people, beat them up, and take their loot). Reward cash for killing them -: 60,000 gold. "60 grand," Max's eyes opened up. "That's some cool s**t, this game keeps getting sweeter." "Dave," Joshua kept grinning as he looked at Zenaida evilly like a r****t looking at his victim. "Toss me the other sword, wanna do a bit of Ode ode with both swords at her, always did it with my fists, wanna see how it feels using something else." "J!" Dave looked at him with disappointment. "Are you okay at all?" "Why ask me such a bullshit question?" Joshua grits his teeth as he turned to him. "We aren't f*****g killers," Dave tells him. "Really, so what do you call Max doing to car dealer dickhead, you doing to that ugly oldie. I am not a fan of the law but I think everyone will agree those shits are called murder." "It's different," Dave sighs. "Those were irredeemable f***s, damaged idiots who had lost every iota of their humanity. Once anyone loses his humanity, he stops living, he becomes a hollow mask with nothing but emptiness and misery inside. Those f***s were already dead long before we found them, we just helped in eradicating them from the face of the earth but Zenaida, she's different, she's simply a product of bad choices and poor parenting," "Heeeeey!!!!!!" Zenaida shouts in Dave's direction but he ignores her as he continues.  "there's still hope for her." "The lies we tell ourselves to sleep at night," Joshua had a disappointed look on his face. "Why don't we go back in time and kill Adolf Hitler, I mean see what the bastard did." "J, this isn't funny," Dave warns him sternly. "The only thing funny around here is your life," Joshua replies to him with a wicked smirk. "That's it!" Dave took a combative pose. Joshua was about to launch at him when Dave suddenly threw his weapon towards him. Joshua saw the weapon coming but there was no way he could evade in time. Just as Joshua thought the weapon was about to hit him. He heard a shriek borne out of pain from his right-hand side. He looks to his right, he saw Max, he was about to bring his sword down on him but Dave had saved him by throwing his blade in his arm.  It had pierced through his right forearm, the avatar had something like tears in it's eyes. "Why does this Avatar always cry like a b***h anytime it's hurt?" Max gritted his teeth as he began pushing the buttons furiously. Max's avatar began swinging his weapon furiously at Joshua, Joshua dodged several of the incoming strikes. He bent down as he narrowly evaded a strike that was coming for his neck. Twisting his body skillfully in the air, he removes Dave's sword which was embedded in Max's avatar. Looking ahead, he saw Zenaida muttering words he couldn't understand, he looked back at Dave. Dave was stuck in a circle of runes. Joshua grit his teeth as he parried Max's avatar attack with one of his weapons, the avatar staggered backward. Joshua jumps in the air as he connects a bicycle kick to the avatar's head sending him backward. Joshua quickly tosses the weapon to Dave, Dave caught it and as soon as he did, Joshua threw his weapon towards Zenaida. It was about to land in her forehead squarely until a figure jumped suddenly in front of her, it was a small goblin. The sword hit the target true in its chest as the goblin slumped to the ground, its body faded and in its wake was the sword and a goblin tooth. Directly behind Zenaida was a horde of small goblins who were holding pitchforks, clubs, and knives. "I knew J would have thought that I was muttering a spell to trap Dave in those runes," Zanaida smiles to herself. "But I knew I had to have a failsafe spell, that was why I made another spell for goblin spawns, and they arrived just in time to do perform their purpose. Max is soon to get his character back, it's all going according to my plan." "I need to get my sword," Joshua grit his teeth. "J, this is the time in everyone's life when they run," Dave tells him as he took off in the opposite direction, running as fast as his legs could carry him. "The J never runs," Joshua grins majestically.   "J!!!!!!." The voice reverberated around again. "I am going to make you pay for how you addressed me earlier." "Is that why you now want to cry?" Joshua ends with his most evil laugh. "We shall see!!!" The voice ends as suddenly all the goblins transform into hobgoblins. They were holding dangerous modern weapons such as plasma rifles, freeze rifles, miniguns, and several other dangerous arsenal. "Like you know how to operate that s**t," Joshua scoffs at the smallest hobgoblin. It shot it in J's direction. It released a fireball to the ground.  BOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! The crater left was enough to build a bunker underground. Joshua didn't waste time, he ran off in the opposite direction, sweat breaking off his forehead. The goblins tore after Joshua, they screamed an annoying war cry as they kept dashing after the blonde. Soon, Joshua had caught up with Dave who was on the floor, he was putting a few bundles of twigs and dried grass on a certain area, there were several more areas covered with dried grass, and broken twigs. "I thought you said the J don't run," He scoffs in Joshua's direction. "When mortals do it," Joshua answers him sharply. "It's called running out of cowardice but when the J does it, it's known as strategic retreat." "The lies we tell ourselves to sleep at night," Dave laughs mildly. "Very funny," Joshua says sarcastically. "What the hell are you doing? Those ugly green pieces of s**t are after us." "There's no way we can outrun them," Dave answers him as he keeps setting more twigs on certain holes in the ground. "And thanks to your big mouth, they got upgrades from the Grandma above, one of which involves projectile weapons meaning they could easily fire at us. Lucky for us, the granny didn't give those goblins any form of good intelligence, it's no shocker though," Dave ends with a mild laugh. "You can't give what you don't have." "I HEARD THAT!!!!!!! DAVE, I SWEAR BY ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME, YOU SHALL HAVE A SLOWER AND MORE EXCRUCIATING DEATH THAN J." "Guess we in the same boat, brother," Joshua smiles at him. "Shut up!" Dave sets the last twig as he got to his feet. The horde of goblins was running towards his position, they were a few meters away from him. "We have to move. "Way ahead of you," Joshua races away. Dave followed directly behind. The goblins keep running, they ran over the holes which Dave had covered. The twigs and dried bush gave way revealing a deep pit beneath. The goblins began to fall to their deaths. The goblins who didn't fall to their deaths were acting confused as they began to fidget. Dave and Joshua ran back to the site of the traps. There were several weapons on the ground which had dropped while the goblins stupidly fell to their death. Joshua and Dave grin boyishly to themselves as they helped themselves to several weapons on the ground. "You aren't half bad?" Joshua tells Dave. "I knew the only way we both could get out of here with a mouth as big as yours is if we are boxed as s**t," Dave replies him. "So I knew the only way we'd triumph here was if we took whatever that old hag threw at us." "YOU RUDE BRATS!!!! ARE YOU AWARE I CAN STILL HEAR YOU?" "I know," Joshua grins as he points a weapon to the sky. "Why do you think the saying the truth is bitter was invented," Joshua grins as he jerked his weapon back. He released a burst of lightning to the sky. "DID YOU THINK THAT WAS GONNA AFFECT ME?!! AND I THOUGHT YOU WERE SMART." "Who said anything about you?" Joshua grins maliciously. "Nobodies should learn no one gives a s**t about them," The lightning which Joshua shot gets absorbed into a cloud.  The current passed through until it filled it. The lightning gathers at the central point, then streaks of lightning began hailing down from the cloud. It hit the remaining goblins, turning them to powder. "I am a genius," Joshua grins to himself. "Yeah, you are," Dave replies to him. "Now let's get out of here." "DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK YOU CAN ESCAPE ME? CHILD, I OWN THIS VIRTUAL WORLD, I CAN DO WHATEVER THE f**k I WANT." "No entourage-ability is that convenient except that of the first Primordials," Dave replies her. "Every other entourage requires some form of condition before it can manifest. It's obvious you don't like J, if you could kill him at the spot, you wouldn't have sent lightning to strike him, you would have just snapped your fingers, J turns to dust. Thanos style! Also, you kept expressing and talking from the sky, that's where you are limited to..." The old woman could feel her forehead going red, she was visibly aggravated. She hated Dave, he was quite intuitive. "Meaning that if J and I can take some shade away from you," Dave looks towards the nearest cottage. "Then we can escape from your sight." "LIKE I WILL LET YOU!" As the voice spoke, hundreds of orcs and goblins appeared around. They each had a deflective shield surrounding them, and in their hands, they held dangerous firearms. "It's either you are dead or mentally retarded," Joshua laughs maniacally. "Dave was never asking." Dave dropped a grenade to the ground, smoke covered the entire area. The orcs and goblins dashed to the position of Dave and Joshua before the smoke but when they got there, the duo had already vanished. "What a group of idiots!!" Zenaida's grandmother thought to herself with a sly smile on her face. "I saw Dave's eyes looking to the cottage. Besides, it's the only place where they could have taken shade from me within a 20-mile radius, there's no way they could have gotten to the main city!!!" The orcs and goblins rushed to the cottage, they tore the building down as they began to look around for Dave and Joshua but the two Primordials were gone. "This is impossible," she thought to herself. "There's no way they could have made it to the nearest city, I know their stats but my spawns are checking the entire area. They are nowhere to be found, I just have to give the two Primordials the benefit of the doubt and search for them in the main city!!!!"
