The crowd dispersed slowly after half-bowing to the chieftain, taking their own sweet time to wander off. Every single person treated us as though we were zoo animals, looking at us with shocked or surprised expressions as they went past. There was a modicum of respect keeping them from staring outright, but the way they slowed down and eyeballed us made me grit my teeth.
"What was the announcement?" I asked Skylar, trying to take my mind off my irritation.
"I think he said that there will be a small ceremony to welcome us to the Inferno tribe's village tonight," Skylar explained. "There should be a sumptuous feast."
