Elsa's comment got me thinking. She had expected that the indigenous people would be more backwards than those of us who lived in the city, but why would they not be just as advanced, albeit in different ways? None of us knew that much about surviving in the wild and living off the land, except for me, but the indigenous people had been living here for decades and centuries. They knew the Isle of Mystery the best, and probably had developed their own storehouse of knowledge and wisdom about the resources on the island. In any case, perhaps the people had evolved after centuries of living on the island, just like the strange flora and fauna we had encountered here.
