“Get some sleep,” Nicholas instructed Dave. “You’re still injured.” I winced upon hearing his words, knowing that Dave’s injuries were, well, all my fault. After all, I had fought him, and had given him several lacerations that had to be hurting still, despite the clove salve we had tried to apply. “It’s okay. I’m fine,” Dave protested stubbornly. “Just listen to me and go to sleep,” Nicholas insisted, shoving at his shoulder lightly. The younger man gave in, and the yawn that stretched his face moments after he got up to go and lie down under the shelter we had made showed that he was grateful for Nicholas’s command. Nicholas and I remained around the fire. The fruit we had plucked was long gone, and I was deep in thought about what to do for the next day’s food when he spoke up. “Forr
