CHAPTER 2

CRYSTAL MOONLIGHT PACK

Kylen Zayd Ashwood, the Alpha of the Crystal Moonlight Pack, the most powerful pack in the world, charged at his opponent. He bit his opponent’s neck and threw him onto the ground. His opponent yelped in pain and tried to stand, limping.

Kylen growled dangerously, making their pack’s opponent stop fighting and run in fear. Kylen shifted to his human form and his Beta handed him khaki shorts. He wore the pants and looked at his surroundings. The aftermath of the battle was visible. Blood was spilled on the ground. The dead bodies were also lying helplessly on the ground. But he needed to help his injured pack warriors.

“Call the pack doctor,” Kylen ordered his Beta.

“Yes, Alpha.” The Beta bowed his head.

Then Kylen turned his attention to the other pack warriors who weren’t injured. “Help the injured and for our dead opponents, burn them.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

“Benjamin, bring some pack warriors with you and patrol the whole pack. Make sure that no opponents are still around,” Kylen ordered.

“Yes, Alpha.”

All that could be heard was “Yes, Alpha,”. No one dared to question and no one showed disobedience to the powerful Alpha. Kylen looked at the dead opponents lying on the ground. Some packs were suppressing them and wanted to eliminate them. His Crystal Moonlight Pack was recognized as the most powerful pack since ancient times.

Kylen took his father’s position as the Alpha when he turned twenty-one. All the packs feared him because of his ruthlessness. But as far as they know, he didn’t kill an innocent person. His ruthlessness is only for those people who deserve it. And they said he was more ruthless than his father, which he ignored because what other people say about it, he doesn’t care.

After dealing with the aftermath of the battle, Kylen returns to the pack house. He took a bath to remove the blood that was stained on him. After bathing, he entered the walk-in closet, got a pair of clothes, and got dressed.

Kylen went to his private office that belonged to his father before. He passed his parents' room. He was informed that his parents had just arrived. They went abroad for a vacation and they just arrived this morning. He knocked on his parent’s room.

“Mom. Dad.”

“Son, we’re busy!” His father responded from inside.

Kylen snorted. “Busy, huh.” He shook his head. He knew what his parents were doing right at the moment. And when his parents were busy, he was not welcome to interfere. Shaking his head, he went to his private office to do his Alpha duties.

He was in the middle of reading some reports when his Beta and Gamma arrived and reported to him.

“Report, Alpha. I had already strengthened the security of the whole pack,” Benjamin reported. “With Thomas's help, our enemies couldn’t enter our pack’s border anymore.”

Kylen nodded. “Good.”

“Alpha, I have dealt with the injured pack warriors. They were now in the infirmary. The pack doctor was treating them. Dr. Ferrer has told me that the pack warriors will recover in no time,” Sebastian informed the Alpha.

Kylen snorted. “Of course, they will recover in no time. He is one of the best doctors.”

Sebastian and Benjamin nodded their heads to agree with their Alpha.

“By the way, Sebastian,” Kylen looked at his Beta. “I’ll go back to the city to manage the Ashwood Empire. You take care of the pack for me.”

Sebastian bowed his head. “Yes, Alpha.”

Kylen nodded. “You’re dismissed.”

Sebastian and Benjamin bowed once again before they left the Alpha’s office. After getting from the Alpha’s office, Benjamin holds onto Sebastian to support his body from falling.

“What’s the matter?” Sebastian asked, as he supported Benjamin.

Benjamin shook his head. “Nothing. Alpha was just scary.”

Sebastian frowned, but he agreed in his mind that their Alpha was indeed scary. “What do you mean he’s scary? He doesn’t raise his voice. His voice was cold though,” he said.

Benjamin stood. “I didn’t know what to say. We all know Alpha Kylen’s character. Though he was cold and ruthless, he never raised his voice when talking with us and never abused his power as an Alpha. He was kind.” He sighed and tapped the Beta’s shoulder. “But he was still scary for me.”

Sebastian shook his head. What Benjamin said was indeed true. One look from Alpha Kylen could make someone run away. His cold smile can make some fall to their knees. His cold voice could make someone freeze. “That’s why he was entitled to the Cold-Faced King. Don’t let Alpha Kylen hear you or else you’re finished.” And then he left.

Benjamin sighed and followed Sebastian.

Kylen could only shake his head after hearing his Beta and Gamma’s conversation. Then he touched his face. “A cold-faced king, huh.” He chuckled and continued his Alpha duties.

KYLEN had just descended from the staircase and saw his parents in the living room having tea. “Mom, Dad, I’m leaving.”

“When will you be back?” Karina, Kylen’s mother asked.

Kylen sat on the long sofa opposite his parents. “I’ll come back if you need me,” he said and looked at his father. “Dad, you don’t have to worry about the pack. Sebastian will act as the Alpha in my absence.”

“I know that, and I am not worried, Son. I know Sebastian's capabilities and you trust him. So, I trust him too but…” Allen, Kylen’s father, sighed, “Son, you’re not young anymore.”

Kylen rolled his eyes. “Dad, I know what you wanted to tell me,” he said.

“Kylen, next time you go home, I’m hoping that you now have our daughter-in-law,” said Karina.

“Mom, Dad, I already told you, I am not in a hurry to find my mate.” Though I hope I can find her now. “Besides, there was a time for everything. We shouldn’t rush it.”

This time, it was Karina who rolled her eyes. “If you can’t bring my daughter-in-law here, don’t think of coming back.”

“Your mom was right, son. And don’t think of being the Alpha anymore. I will take it back,” Allen threatened.

He knew that his father wasn’t serious about his threat, but he doubted his mother. His mother was a woman of her word. Whatever his mother says, she will do it and no one can stop her.

Kylen sighed in defeat. “Fine. I will not return without your daughter-in-law with me.”

Karina and Allen looked at each other and smiled. As if they had won a victory. Yeah, a victory against their son.

“Much better,” Karina said.

Kylen stood. “Then I’m leaving.”

“Bye, son. If you can, you can bring back my daughter-in-law and my grandson on my birthday!”

Kylen covered his ears and ran outside. He sighed heavily. “Daughter-in-law? Grandson? Is my mother crazy now? It was already difficult for me to find my mate, and yet she was asking for a grandson.” He shook his head and entered his car.

Kylen drove half an hour before he arrived at his company. Arriving at his company, after parking his Roll-Royce, he entered the exclusive elevator that was only for the chairman of the Ashwood Empire. As soon as he entered the top floor, he was greeted by his employees. He just nodded his head at them and went to his office.

As Kylen sat on his swivel chair, a knock on his door got his attention. “Good…” Ava, Kylen’s secretary, looked at her wristwatch, “afternoon, Mr. Chairman. Schedule, sir.”

“Come in.”

Ava walked into the Chairman’s office and looked at the tablet in her hand. “Sir, at exactly one you have a meeting with the board of directors, and you have to sign some documents. Tomorrow, at exactly nine, you have a meeting with the CEOs of Ashwood Empire.”

Kylen nodded. His face remained indifferent. “Okay. I got it. You may go.”

Ava slightly bowed her head and left the Chairman’s office. After sitting on her chair, she took a deep breath. “The Chairman of Ashwood Empire is really cold-hearted,” she said. “It was so scary to talk with him. Fortunately, I have got used to it.” She was not as scared as before.

When the clock struck exactly one o’clock, Kylen went to the conference room and had a board meeting with the board of directors. It was just another boring board meeting because of some board of directors who couldn’t understand a simple word.

“I have told you I want to launch the new product next week and I want it next week,” Kylen said with his final voice, with no room for negotiation.

The Board of Directors looked at each other.

Ava could only shake her head. They already know the Chairman’s temper and yet they still want to negotiate. I think they’re really a bunch of fools.

“Chairman, this is…”

“Chairman, it is impossible to launch the new product next week. We still have many processes to do. Moreover, the empire was facing technical problems. It wasn't addressed until now,” said Vienna. One of the Board of Directors.

And the Board of Directors agreed with Vienna.

Ava could only sign and distribute the printed plan to each Board of Directors.

“This is the plan that needed to be executed, so the new product will be launched next week. If you have objections, then come up with an excellent plan to address the networking problems of the Empire, but you have to make sure that the new product will be launched next week, or else you know the consequences,” Kylen said with his cold voice.

No one dared to object after reading the plan made by the Chairman.

The corner of Kylen’s lips rose when no one objected. “Then it settled.” He stood up and left the conference room.

Everyone seemed to breathe a sigh of relief when the Chairman left the conference room. Every one of them shows distress in their faces, making Ava shake her head. She always witnessed the looks of the Board after the meeting. They all seemed — no… they all really feared the Chairman.

Ava thought something. An excellent idea. “Chairman,” she said, even though the Chairman didn’t come back.

Everyone was silent and looked at the door but when the people inside the conference room saw that the Chairman had not returned, they all looked at Ava.

“Oops… Just kidding.” Ava smiled innocently and left the conference room.

KYLEN felt exhausted and didn’t have the energy to work. So, he called his Delta, Colton Galvez.

“Alpha.”

“Drive the car.”

“I’ll be there, Alpha.”

Because they are werewolves, it doesn’t matter where they are. They have unhuman speed, and they will arrive at their destination anytime they want.
