As we pulled into the gated residence and stepped out of the vehicle, a hush fell, with everyone bowing respectfully as we passed by. My gaze shifted to the top of the steps, where Cyrus stood, hands tucked into his pockets, beaming down at me.
"Did you get a lot of stuff?" he inquired, glancing at the SUVs, their hatches popped and back doors flung open.
"I did! I also grabbed a few items for the office here. I'm considering a redesign of the city office, but I want to see it in person first," I replied. Embracing him, I stepped into his open arms, my own wrapping around his waist in a warm hug. He placed a loving kiss upon my forehead.
