*Jim* “You’ve got a good one,” Mike tells me as he follows me into the barn. “She was worried something happened to you.” I sigh, climbing off the horse. “I didn’t mean to scare her.” “She told me Catherine came by,” he says cautiously. “Sounds like she had a bit to say.” “What did Amelia tell you?” I ask. s**t. I hope she didn’t tell him. Mike and my dad had more than a working relationship. They were friends. Mike pats my shoulder. “Not anything I didn’t already know. When you want to talk, come find me.” He turns to leave, but I grab his arm. “What do you know?” “Everything,” he shrugs. “But you aren’t ready to hear it yet.” Everything? Does that mean it’s true? I’ve spent hours outside trying to wrap my mind around this. I can’t think of any scenario where this is
