*Amelia* “You’re doing great, Amelia,” Jake, my physical therapist tells me. My arm is getting stronger, but it still tires out quickly. I spent two weeks unconscious, not moving at all. My body struggled after even that short of a time, but I’d broken my collarbone from the impact of the wreck, and it’s been not easy to rehab. “Thank you,” I tell him, even though it doesn’t feel like I’ve done anything spectacular. Still, I’m lifting more weight than I did last week. “You’ll be cutting hair before you know it!” he tells me excitedly. I don’t share his excitement, though. I had to leave school for the obvious reasons. I was upset at first, but now, I just feel lucky to be alive.
