I sit in my car, smiling from ear to ear. I got the job! It has really early hours, but that’s probably best with school. I can’t believe I have my first job. I pick up my phone to call Jim, but I’m going straight home, so I’ll wait.
I know they all think I’m crazy to not just live off my dad, but I need to learn to take care of myself. Dad broke up with Ava, but there’s a chance that he could still find out what I’ve done. Jim would leave me. Dad would cut me off. I’d be on my own with no clue what to do.
But Dad willingly broke up with Ava, so there’s a chance that things with Jim can still work. I just have to avoid her for the rest of my life. Easy enough, right?
