Chapter1
When Americus and Cristiano arrive home from Toronto, the first thing she does is call Kaleight to check on her and the kids. She wanted her to know that she was coming over before the kids got out of school. They’re picking them up from their parents, but they haven’t told their parents yet. And she knows her parents aren’t going to be happy about it. She’s sure her mother has already planned things to do after school.
Kaleigh said she’s doing okay. There are some things she wants to discuss with her. She’s glad she’s back; she didn’t want to talk about it over the phone or video. There is something she wants to ask Cristiano. Kaleigh said she heard what Lacy did. It’s all over the internet and every news station.
Americus said that the night is a sit-down story and she’ll tell her all about it when she and Cristiano get there. After talking to Kaleigh, Americus looked at the picture again that Henrettia and Augusta sent her. Now she knows she was right when she was at the hospital. “I can’t believe you're back after all these years."
Cristiano had been in the upstairs den talking to Ferris about the funeral. And how they and Courtney have to make sure to be there for Hellive, Marisol, and Knight. Ferris said he'll enjoy it since he can't have kids. Cristinao heard the sadness in Ferris's voice when he said that. Then Ferris tells him the reason he called, and he knows that it's short notice. When he heard the film had been temporarily shut down, he thought it would be a good time for her and Zuleyka to ask them out becasue they have something they want to discuss with him and Americus.
Cristiano said he’s sure it will be fine. Let him get with Americus, and he’ll text him. He hangs up and enters his and Americus’s bedroom, looking at an empty bedroom and sitting area. He started to leave, but heard her in the bathroom. Cristiano jogs into the bathroom and sees her head over the toilet. He wets a washcloth and places it on her forehead. “Darn, I missed it. Next time, let me know before you throw up.”
She cut her eyes at him, then vomited again. He rubs her back and kisses her head. "I love you."

Terrance and Stevie invited Pernell to lunch. They knew he wasn’t getting any work done because he was worried about Kaleigh. They thought that if they took him to Nick+Stef’s Steakhouse, it would take his mind off of Kaleigh. Pernell loves the jumbo crabcake and dry-aged ribeye steak.
They weren’t expecting Pernell to order a Abdolut Elyx Sweden because he’s going back to the hospital after lunch. Stevie glances at Terrance, who shook his head. “Do you have a busy day at the hospital later?”
“No, not really. Man, I can’t focus on a damn thing.” Pernell drinks most of his liquor. “What I’m about to say stays between us. That day, when Kaleigh was brought in, I was in the ER. While her housekeeper was admitting her, I sneaked back there to see her. Man, the bruises and blood. Dexter did a number on her face. I wanted to beat the hell out of him. s**t, who am I kidding? I want to kill his ass. I left before the housekeeper came back. I’m sure Kaleigh wouldn’t want anyone to see her like that."
"Damn, I never thought Dexter would be the abuse type. He must have snapped about something. Terrance looks at Pernell.
“From what I heard, it was the first time he had ever hit her. But it was his last time.” Pernell drinks the rest of his drink. “I do mean his last time.”
Stevie tells Terrance about the police taking Americus, Tanesha, and Zuleyka's statements. He couldn't believe that they admitted to beating the crap out of Dexter and performed a reenactment. He almost died when the three women turned their backs and put their hands behind them, waiting to be handcuffed.
Terrance almost knocked his whisky over laughing. “ It seems like I missed one hell of a show."
"You did. Damn, those women can talk and act their way out of anything." Steve looks at Pernell. "We know you're worried about Kaleigh. Americus, Zuleyka, and Tanesha are making sure she'll get through this. No matter who ass they have to whip."
"True friends," Pernall picks up his empty glass. "Kaleigh must have told Dexter she filed for divorce."
Stevie and Terrance look at him, confused. Terrance waves the waitress over, but he's still looking at Permell. "How do you know she filed?"
"The night she and I danced at Americus and Cristiano's dinner, she told me she had already filed. She'll call me when her divorce is finalized." Pernell taps the table. "That must have been the reason he snapped."

Leandro is at the gate of Kaleigh’s house. He’s telling his men that no one gets in except those whose names are on the list he gave them. Reporters started calling and hanging outside Kaleigh’s gate. It seems someone from the hospital leaked out that Kaleigh was a patient there the night Dexter committed suicide. Leandro has posted men around the fence.
He still feels guilty because he wasn’t there to protect Kaleigh. Willis and the other men tell him none of them thought Kaleigh needed protection inside the house. He can’t blame himself.
That doesn’t make Leandro feel any better. He’s looking at a man stepping out of a car. “What the hell does he want?”
“Yeah, what can you tell me about the people you work for. Was either one of them having an affair that would cause Mrs. Bale to be in the hospital for domestic abuse?”
Leandro grabs the man's shirt collar. “Get your ass away from here. Fon’t let me see you around here with such nonsense. People always assume the worst. “ He threw the man to the ground.
“Freedom of speech, man.” The reporter yells.
“This is private property.” Leandro walking toward him, “I believe in freedom of speech. Facts, which means where is the evidence. Didn’t I tell you to get the hell away from here?” Leandro reaches for him, and Willis stops him.
Willis shakes his head. “He’s not worth it. Man, either you leave the premises or take a ride to jail.” He looks at the reporter.
The reporter gets up, runs to the street, looks back at Leandro, and yells, “crazy mutherfuther.”
"Bring you ass back on this property afin and this crazy muthrefutgeer will kick you as." Leandro's walking toward the street.
"s**t," Willis catches up with him. "Don't let that asshole get to you. By the way, the other night I came by the hospital to see if you needed a break. But you weren't in Kaleigh's room."
"I needed some air," Leandro says, looking at the reporter.

Yara hasn’t stopped wondering if anyone has taken pictures of Daxter and Oril when they were out. She still hasn’t gotten an attorney to represent her against Kaleigh. She’s sure she’s being watched since she received legal documents from the court because Kaleigh’s suing her. If Kaleigh finds out about Oril, that would most definitely throw a wrench in her plan.
She’s on the internet searching for Dexter’s obituary. She wants to view his body and also find out when his funeral will be, so she and Dexter can attend. When she finds his obituary, she becomes its invitation-only guest. How can a funeral be invitation-only? " She looks at Juniper. "Have you ever heard of such before?"
“Yep,” Juniper pops her lips. ‘It’s to keep trouble like you out. That woman knows what she’s doing. I’m sure you weren’t the only sidechick. You and I both know you were going there to start some mess. And to get your ass whipped."
"I'll wait outside and wait for her," Yara smirks.
"I was right. Get your ass whipped. Don't call me, becasue I'm not coming. Wait a damn minute. Trick, you don't have a car. Tell me how you're going to get there."
Yara frowns, looking at her.
"That's what I thought. Nope, I'm not interfering with that man's funeral. And that woman is grieving for her husband. Let's not forget his real children grieving for him. You know their father."
