The problem with being labeled a terrorist by federal authorities was that it made it nearly impossible to practice law or participate in any public activities without constantly fearing for my safety from agents who might unfairly target me.
I had been contemplating this difficult situation for weeks when I finally figured out a potential solution during an intense meeting about our group’s resource distribution. Jake was in the middle of a heated argument with Rico about supplies, Luna was sharpening a knife with a focus that hinted she had strong, unspoken opinions, and Kane was doing his best to mediate even though it was clear he wanted to swiftly make a decision and move on.
That’s when it hit me: I had been thinking about this all wrong.
