I took the opportunity to close the distance between us. As I approached her, she looked away. I grabbed her chin gently, making sure she was staring at me as I spoke. “Please, Nicole.” My gaze softened as I searched her eyes. It was almost like a war was going on in there. I had an idea of what was going on but I also wanted her to tell me by herself. We weren’t going to last if she kept hiding things from me. “Let me in. Let me know what the problem is.” She averted her gaze but there was really nowhere else she could look when I was crowding her space. Her eyes met mine again, her lips quivering as she debated whether to spill or not. “
