“We’ve almost caught up,” Jia announced excitedly.
They’d jumped relatively close to the target ship and transmitted their shiny new official government orders and credentials to stand down and prepare to be boarded. The Qilin had accelerated in response.
Jia’s heart pounded with excitement. Whatever pointless scheme the frontier fleet was planning could be easily disrupted, but Caldo was the true end of everything. The Core would be over, and Erik would be free of the burden that had been weighing on him. It wasn’t every day a woman got to destroy the last vestiges of an evil conspiracy to help the man she loved. Nothing like a little two-for-one.
