I stared at my phone's screen, the phone trembling in my hand like the phone had suddenly turned to lava. Why was my mum calling?
When the phone stopped ringing, I almost breathed out in relief, but it began to ring again, and this time, I couldn't just watch the phone ring. With a deep breath, I swiped my thumb across the screen and placed the phone to my ear.
“Callista Mason!”
I squinted my eyes from the sting her voice bore. It was bad enough that she was calling after a long time, and now she's calling my full name?

“Hi, mum. I didn't expect to see your call,” I managed, trying to keep the tremble away from my voice and keep it light.
