Lisa’s POV “Damn! I am so dead!”. I exclaimed as I looked at the time. It was already eight thirty and I had a job interview by nine thirty. I just have one hour. I quickly took a shower and put on the first thing I could find in my wardrobe. I then hurried out of my room with my resume in my hand. “Hey Lisa, why are you rushing out like you are being chased by a demon from your dream?”. Clara, my flatmate, asked. “Hello, Clara. I got an interview at nine and I am almost late! See you later. Wish me luck!”. I hurriedly said and rushed out of the house. I was lucky enough to find a taxi immediately after I went out. “Where to Mam?”. The taxi driver asked me. “A and A enterprise main building. Please be fast. Thank you!” I said as I started to pray that I reach before time internally. I seriously need this job. I have been unemployed for about five months now. It’s a good thing I have my savings to fall back on, or I would have been on the streets by now. My last boss fired me because his fiancée told him to. Stupid reason, I know. The job was great, including the pay. I was happy that I finally have my life on the right track. In fact, I was planning on moving into a new apartment by the end of the year. But then, suddenly, out of nowhere, I got fired for no reason. I have always strived to be a good assistant to my former boss. So when he fired me and I demanded an explanation, the only thing I got was that his fiancée wanted me out of the picture. Because, according to her, I am too attractive to be a personal assistant. I was beyond shocked when I heard the reason. I do know that I am not ugly, but I am not that type of hot that can be considered a distraction or something. At the end of the day, Clara and I just concluded that my boss's fiancée just wanted to save, guide her territory, and get rid of anyone that she considered a possible threat to her relationship. “Ma'am, we are here!” The taxi driver's announcement brought me out of my thoughts. “Thank you!” I said as I paid him and got out of the taxi. I look at my watch and check the time. It’s fifteen minutes past nine. That means that I have fifteen more minutes before the interview starts. I stood for a minute and stared at the impressive building of the A and A enterprise. The building was built in the shape of the letter A. It's a ten-story building made of glass. The year the building was constructed, it was awarded as one of the unique buildings in the world. After standing and staring awestruck at the building for a few minutes, I remembered that I was there for an interview. I made my way to the entrance. The nice security at the door greeted me as I entered the building. I took a deep breath as I stared at the interior of the building. Honestly, it looks more like a five-star hotel than an office building. The building of the former company I work for looks too dull and outdated compared to this. “I know that you haven’t seen such a beautiful building in your whole life, but please, you can close your mouth now!”. Someone said by my side. I looked up and noticed the lady at the receptionist's desk for the first time. I was so dazzled by the building when I entered that I didn’t see her. The receptionist resembles the type of person you would expect to meet here. Prim and proper. She is beautiful, with long, blond hair that is pulled back into a ponytail. She is wearing a pink blazer with “Kylie,” which I guess is her name, written on it. She is also putting on makeup that complements her face. “Do you know how to do anything apart from staring?” Kylie, the receptionist, asked me with a bored look on her face. “I am sorry. I am just fascinated by the building! I honestly told her with a smile on my face. “Of course you are. It’s not every day you get to see such buildings, which I am sure you don’t have in the slums!”. Kylie taunted with a look of disgust on her face. I looked at her with a tight smile on my face. I don’t want to do or say anything that will jeopardize my chance of getting a job here. “Please, which floor is the interview going to hold?”. I politely asked her, still maintaining a smile on my face. “ We are not recruiting cleaners at the moment,” Kylie answered. I am not sure if she heard my question or not. “I am not here for a cleaner's job. I am here to apply for the post of the CEO’s personal assistant.” I explained to Kylie. Kylie stared at me for a minute before she burst into laughter. “You? No way you are getting the job.” Kylie said before she continued laughing. “Can you tell me the floor, please?”. I asked impatiently. I seriously want to move on from her, or I will be forced to say something that will put me in big trouble. “Easy there, tiger. It’s on the eighth floor. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”. Kylie muttered. “Thanks for the warning, but I don’t think I need it!” I said, and with my head held high, I walked towards the elevator. Luckily enough for me, the elevator was empty, and so I was able to get myself together before I reached the eight-hour mark. Once I got out of the elevator, I was unsure which direction to take. The floor is empty, and there is no signpost for me to follow. However, I was fortunate to meet a man who works here at the company. He not only showed me the direction to the interview venue but took me there himself. “Here we are!”. The man said once he stopped in front of a double door. “Thank you for your help!”. I appreciated it. “No need to thank me. I am glad I was able to help a damsel in distress!”. The man winked at me, making me blush. “Thanks again. I will go in now.” I said. “Sure. Best of luck! You will need it.” The man said and left. I took a deep breath and pushed the double door open. Once the door opened, I realized why Kylie had laughed earlier and why she had also assumed I was here for the cleaner's job.
