“You taught me to take business and Islam seriously.”
He nods approvingly. I guess he realizes this is not my day. He puts down his teacup and waits a few seconds. I think this does it for everyone. Ali and I look at each other significantly. My father is the boss here, so we’d better stop this.
“You have to trust Ali.” I nod in agreement because he is right. We don’t have to be friends, but business is business. And Ali helped my family to vast wealth. “You will be present at the meeting but there’s nothing more you need to do.” Of course I will be present! No way I’d miss seeing my little interpreter! “Ali will discuss everything with them and you sign whatever papers he brings you. It’s that simple, my son.”
