“I have to go, baby.”
“Why?” Ariel whined, hugging her mate tighter, afraid he would escape her hold. “Do you have to do this?”
"Yes, I do. I already explained to you that it is part of defending the pack, and as the alpha, I have to lead by example.”
“But do you really have to? What am I going to be doing all by myself when you are gone?”
“You would have been going to work if you hadn’t quit.”
Ariel groaned, not ready to hear that. “I already explained to you why I couldn’t do that. Besides, you were the one who was insisting I quit.” Ariel accused him, and Kane shrugged his shoulders.
She had been very excited when she first started the work, but after a week, she had been quick to realize that that kind of life wasn’t for her.
