“LIZZY!” My mother is yelling for me. I run down the stairs and rush into the kitchen. My birthday is in a week and I can’t wait! I’m so excited for my first shift. “Lizzy, you need to get ready for school! Do you have your history project?”
I smile as I round the corner. “I have it right here.” I hold up the thumb drive that my powerpoint is on and give her a look of pure joy. “I always have my stuff, mom. You don’t have to worry about me too much!” I run over and give her a big hug. “Something smells amazing. What did you make for breakfast?”
She giggles as the timer for the oven goes off. “I made strawberry muffins. I figured you could take a couple with you to school and share with some of your friends.”
