Elizabeth suspected that Selene may have fabricated something as an excuse to send her and Sawyer away for a few days, but she was grateful for the chance to get away and it was reassuring that nobody thought it would be unsafe for them to be seen in public. It didn’t matter that it was a 14 hour drive to the city, or that she was stuck in the back of a car for the entire drive - it didn’t even matter that the two people who were going with them had never spoken to her before, or that they seemed completely disinterested in talking to her at all. She felt free, and she had not even realized that she was feeling caged until that. She was nearly asleep with her head leaning against the window when the young man in the passenger seat barked an instruction at Sawyer which startled her awake
