Damien’s pov: The world ended without sound. Just white. For a fraction of a second or maybe longer… or maybe not… everything became light so pure it burned the inside of my skull. There is no pain at first. The pain came later. What comes first is absence. The sudden removal of gravity, of weight, of time. Then the blast hits. My body is lifted and thrown like something disposable. I open my mouth to breathe and choke on dust and smoke. My chest seizes. My lungs burn. I can’t hear. I can’t see properly. I can barely think.
