I found her waiting for me in the courtyard, her eyes meeting mine the second that I walked out.
The courtyard was nearly empty, lanterns burning low, the night quiet in that way that made every word carry farther than it should. I had stepped outside for air, just a moment to clear my head, when I felt her presence before I saw her, I knew that this clearing of mind was not going to be easy.
