Everything was quiet, but the tension wouldn’t leave me no matter how hard I tried to relax.
And I knew that I needed to move, sitting still only made it worse… so I chose to walk.
Not far, just along the inner grounds, where I could still see the borders, where I could feel the rhythm of the pack around me. It helped, in a way. Watching them work. Watching them prepare.
But just as I allowed myself to breathe, one of the guards approached quickly, his posture respectful but tense.
“Luna.”
“Yes?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“There’s… something you need to see.”
My stomach tightened slightly. “What is it?”
“It was left at the northern gate,” he said. “No one saw who placed it. Alpha Alexander is already there, and he’s asked that you come.”
I nodded once. “Show me.”
