I hadn’t slept like that in weeks.
No blade under the rock that I used as my pillow. No boots half on. No waking every hour because a twig snapped outside.
Just… sleep, and as much as I hated to admit it, it felt wrong.
When I opened my eyes, sunlight was already spilling across the floor. For a second I didn’t remember where I was.
Then suddenly everything started to pool into my memory at once.
Wolf territory.
Wolf bed.
Wolf mate.
I sat up immediately, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as I tried to focus before getting up from bed. My body was still sore, but there was no bleeding, no torn skin, nothing.
I moved toward the window, staring out into space, allowing myself to breathe before I noticed the two men who stood below it.
Guarding.
I stared at them for a moment
