WATER We had been walking for days. To be precise, four days. We were all tired. That much was evident by how little we talked amongst ourselves. It was as if everyone was stuck in their own mind, trying to figure out what was going on. We didn't stop until it was necessary. And that only included lunch breaks and when we stopped to sleep. Someone always took guard and I was glad there were many of us because that shortened our night shifts and we could sleep a whole lot more.  Even so, Aileen was the most restless of the group. When she thought we weren't looking, she'd turn back towards the path we had followed to get where we were and a worried, longing look would cross her face.
