The dragon roars in pain and then unleashes his fury on the demon king. This time reaching him with all that fire and burning one of the black griffin’s wings.
Annika next to me screams. But I know I have to keep going.
“I am fine!” I grit through my teeth even though that’s clearly a lie. The piercing pain I feel is distracting me and I bet that was the reason why I was chosen for this last desperate attack. If I fall now, there will be no one to replace me.
For just a second, I touch the spear that’s poking out of me with my hand and freeze it. It’ll be better this way, I can handle my own element. And since the end of the spear is deep in the ground, it even gives me support. So, I return to full action and summon everything that I’ve got.
