[EVIE] The suitcase on my bed is only half-packed, clothes spilling over the sides like they’re trying to escape. I thought I’d be done packing an hour ago, but here I am, lying on my stomach, scrolling through my phone instead. We don’t leave until tomorrow morning in my car so I think I can just spend some more time here, lost in memories. Every swipe of my finger brings one to life—Joel pretending to be a tour guide in Rome, Lily making a dramatic toast in a Parisian café, Carl looking perpetually unimpressed despite standing in front of some of the world’s most beautiful landmarks. Mom and Dad acting like lovebirds, holding hands wherever we go. And then there’s me and Jude. I pause, hovering over a picture taken in Paris. It’s just the two of us, standing by the Seine. I zoom in.
