I rolled my eyes at him. “And how about you? What if you fall for me?” I asked.
Sean chuckled, but it held more arrogance than amusement. “Me? Fall for you? That’s not going to happen.” He declared confidently.
I arched a brow at him. “You sound awfully sure of yourself.”
“I am.” He replied, his voice firm. “It’s simple. This is just a contract. For one year. It doesn’t mean anything.”
His words stung more than I expected. But I forced a smile. “You don’t have to remind me all the time. I’m fully aware that it’s just a contract.” I muttered. “You don’t mean anything either.”
“Good. Because I wouldn’t want you to start daydreaming about something that’s never going to happen. You’ll just end up hurting yourself.”
