I feel anger and discomfort from the mate bond. I look over, but Rae is no longer where I left her. "Where are you?" I text her. "Mingling. I had to get away from your aunt and your little girlfriend," she responds. F*ck. "She is not my girlfriend, you are my girlfriend. Just stay close, please," I text back. I am not sure how safe her mingling is here. Single werewolf males will be all over her. I am about to excuse myself and go find her, but my wolf spots her across the way, and she's with Ranger. At least I know she is safe with him around. I decide to stay put. I don't want her to think I am behind her because I don't trust her or anything. "Yes sir," she texts me back. I smile but put my phone away. I should really focus on the discussions happening around me.
