Prologue (Part 2)

Third Person POV As the sun rose over the horizon the very next day… The Demon King, King Drakgo brought his army from the depths of Obscuras and laid waste to the land of the human kingdom, Lumus. Though as he stormed the royal palace, Drakgo became more and more furious. He could not find the king and queen or their little brats they had just had. No one knew where the royal family disappeared to. Some of the humans were either killed as the army forced their way into the city. Some were lucky enough to escape and take refuge within the borders of another kingdom. Others who were unlucky were either forced into slavery and some were even taken as forced mates to some of the high ranked demons. “Where are the royals?!” Drakgo roared at the woman that helped him. The dark witch, Victoria Black, helped him break the seal on the gates between realms. Now that the gate was opened, demons can come and go as they pleased. “I do not know.” She answered. Not knowing where the royals were was a huge problem. Without Drakgo and his sons drinking the blood of the royal family, they could not truly lay claim to this land. The Kingdom of Lumus has magic of its own, even if the humans that rule it did not. The pure magic that runs within the land itself will slowly push the demons back to their own realm. Unless they find all members of King Alexander’s family. Victoria shook her head. “I don’t know how Alexander and his family got away, but this land will never truly belong to the demons unless you find the royal family and devour them all.” She said as she looked around She looked up to some stone statues that were near the entrance to one of the queen’s gardens. It was of King Alexander and his queen, Elizabeth. “I would say you have maybe 20 years before the magic in the land itself forces the demons back beyond the gate.” She said told Drakgo. Drakgo went to the window, watching the chaos and destruction his demons were causing. He let out a fearsome growl “What?! Where are they then. I will devour them now!!” He roared. He was not going to be forced to live under pathetic humans who had no real powers. Drakgo believed that humans were inferior to demons and shifters. That is why he took their land instead of one of the other kingdoms that are ruled by shifters. She shook her head again. “I don’t know where they are. I have tried numerous tracking spells since we entered the castle, but something or someone seems to be blocking them.” Victoria said. She started to chew on her thumbnail in frustration. “That goodie two shoes witch, Luna, must have hidden them. That is the only way they would be able to hide from me. We should search everywhere for three girls that look the same.” She said. “What good would that do?” Drakgo asked. “Luna is powerful, no mistake on that, but even her magic will not be enough to hide the children for long. I know they were born just yesterday and that Queen Elizabeth had three daughters. They must be found before they come of age and find their true mates.” She tells him. Drakgo raises an eyebrow at the witch. He was curious as to why it was so important to find them before the children found their mates. If they were only born yesterday that gave him a full 18 years to do so. “If we do not find them before they are marked and bound to their true mates, then all of this would have been for nothing. Their powers will become one with this land and become unbreakable through blood. You will be forced back into your dark whole and never be able to come to the surface again.” Victoria spat out. She knew that nothing would be able to stop the three princesses once they are older and with their true mates. Their powers grow with those that love and have faith in them. Drakgo let out a massive roar. He worked too hard to let these humans have their land and rule over him once more. He opened the window and bellowed out his orders to all the demons that were within his new kingdom. “Find the three daughters of the king and queen. Check all the humans and young ones within all that lands, but find them and bring them to me.” He ordered. He was not going to let some baby brats keep him from taking what he believed to be his. Drakgo turned to Victoria, “Do anything you can to find them. Leave nothing to chance.” He growled. Victoria bowed her head and turned to leave the room. Drakgo flopped down into the king’s throne. He growled in frustration and rub a hand over his face. He was determined to find everyone in the Owens family bloodline… because he was not going to give up his new kingdom. Not without a fight. King Julius’s POV (The Wolf Kingdom of Avalan) I am reading over some documents with my queen, Emeline, when my top warrior, Roland, burst through the door. “Your majesties. The Demon King Drakgo has taken over the human kingdom of Lumus.” He says as he drops to his knees. “Oh my goodness. What can we do Julius?” My Emeline asks me. I looked down at Roland. “What about King Alexander and Queen Elizabeth? What news do you have on the royal family?” I asked him. He shook his head. “My king it seems that King Roland and Queen Elizabeth have just disappeared. No one knows or heard anything about where they are or if they are even alive.” He said with his head bowed. “What?!” I shout. ‘What kind of king abandons the throne when times become hard?’ My wolf, Xander, snarls in my mind. ‘Easy Xander, we do not know for certain that King Alexander truly abandoned his kingdom or if something happened to him.’ I told him. He huffed but said nothing in return. ‘I do agree that it does sound odd that he and his whole family would just disappear when their kingdom is under attack.’ I think to myself. I stand up and look at Roland again. “Open up our lands to humans fleeing the demons, and give them shelter… but we will not engage the demons outside our land. I do not give Drakgo any reason to come after our land as well.” I say to him. Roland nodded and was about to leave before he came to a stop and turned back to us. “Oh and as my dear friends I would like to announce to you that I am now a father.” he said with a big smile on his face. Emeline was overjoyed at the news. She jumps up and runs over to give my best friend a big hug. “Oh, congratulations Roland. I am sure Maria is happy to finally have a pup of her own.” She said with tears in her eyes. Roland nodded to Elmeline. “I didn’t know she was pregnant again.” I said, a bit confused. “Well she is not, but we were just blessed with someone dropping off a little girl on our doorstep last night in the storm. She is a beautiful little girl and so cute. Her name is Serafina.” Roland said, with pride and happiness I have not seen in his eye for a long time. “Someone left their child on your doorstep? Is the child even a wolf?” I asked. Emeline nudged me and give me a look as if to say ‘drop it’. Roland thought for a moment. “I am pretty sure she is. She has a wolf birthmark on her stomach and she has made my Maria so happy. Since all the miscarriages she endured. It even brought her wolf back. Would you like to meet her sometime?” He says. I smiled at my best friend and then I looked at my Emeline. “Of course, we would love to meet Serafina. Maybe she will become good friends with our Andrew. Just like you two were when you were prince and bodyguard.” She said, smiling between Roland and I. I nodded. Going with tradition Roland’s first child would be my son’s bodyguard regardless of their age and gender. Andrew was already 3 years old, and Roland and his mate were having so much trouble having their own pup. I was worried that my son would not have what I had when Roland became my bodyguard. He was my best friend and my protector, so maybe this girl was a blessing to us all. I smiled at my friend and said “Congratulations on your daughter old friend.” King Stephen’s POV (The Dragon Kingdom of Magmis) “The demons are taking over Lumus! What is the news of the royal family?!” I asked my scout that came to report. “It seems they just disappeared. The King, his Queen, and the recently born triplet princesses are all gone.” he said. I just looked down at my feet as the shock set in. “Do you think he just took his family and ran?” the scout asked. I shook my head with anger and stood up from my throne. “NO! Human or not. I know Alexander would never betray his kingdom” I growled out, making my scout bow his head in submission. I remember how Alexander would always ask me and the other kings how to improve and become the king his people needed. “King Alexander is no coward! I roared and the whole throne room shook. My dragon, Blaze, was trying to come forward to kill this scout that would dishonor our friend and a king we saw as our equal. Regardless that Alexander was human. ‘There has to be a reason he didn’t come to us for help. There has to be.’ Blaze kept repeating this not only to himself but to me as well. “We will not mess with the Demon King for now, but make room in our country lands for the humans to take refuge there. We will allow them to live amongst our people until we can find King Alexander and Queen Elizabeth as well as their children.” I ordered my men and they scurried away. My Queen, Allison, came over to me holding our two year old son, Victor, in her arms. “We will find them, my love. Emerald has told me that she can feel that they are safely hidden from the demon king, but she believes that no one will find them until they come of age.” she said to me. I was surprised, sometimes Allison’s dragon, Emerald, would have a bit of a foresight vision and could sometimes see pieces of the future when it is something important to do with anyone tied close to Allison. Allison and Queen Elizabeth had become really close friends over the years so it gives me some hope that at the very least the children are somewhere safe. I nod and take her into my arms. I felt so weak to not be able to help a friend in need, and the fact that Alexander never asked for my help made me feel even weaker. ‘Did he think I wasn’t strong enough to help him fight this foe?’ I thought to myself. Blaze growled and told me to trust in our mates' vision. I agreed with him and held my mate and my child even tighter. As of this point, only time would tell how all of this is to unfold. King Hector’s POV (In the Tiger Kingdom of Glacius) I received the news that the kingdom of Lumus had fallen to the Demon King Drakgo. I was not going to endanger my family and my kind in a battle between humans and demons. I will allow humans to live in my kingdom, but they will receive no special treatment. They will work just like the tigers in my kingdom. “Would King Alexander really abandon his kingdom like this?” I asked my most trusted friend and personal bodyguard, Kevin Dixson. There had been no news of the royal family and even though his queen was pregnant, they all seemed to just disappear without a trace. “I do not know, my king, but most demons only tell lies. There is no telling what is true anymore now that they have taken over Lumus.” Kevin says. Just then the doors burst open with Kevin’s son, Michael, and my son, Anthony, playing and chasing each other around with toy swords. Anthony ran over to his mother, Alicia, and me. “Mother, Father. Can I have a little sister too?” He said with a sparkle in his eyes. Alicia and I looked stunned for a moment, until Kevin started laughing. “What do you mean by ‘too’ Sweetheart?” Alicia asks our son. Kevin stepped in. “I can answer that, your majesties.” I nod for him to continue. “It seems Michael has told Anthony all about his new little sister that I found on our doorstep late last night. Her name is Aurora.” Kevin said with a bright smile. “Who would leave their child on someone’s doorstep like that, and in that storm we had?!” Alicia asked, filled with concern and a little anger. My mate always had a soft spot for children. Kevin shrugged. “I don’t know, my queen, but Aurora is now my daughter. Nightmare and I would die before we let anyone take her away from us.” he said with a growl of determination. Alicia spoke again with a bright smile. “Oh, how sweet. Anna must be over excited to have her own little girl.” Kevin laughed as if to say ‘You don’t know how right you are’ “If Anna doesn’t take little Aurora from me then Michael does. He loves his little sister to death already and it hasn’t even been a full 24 hours since she joined our family.” He said with a big smile on his face. Just then Kevin’s mate, Anna, came in with an adorable little girl in her arms. Alicia was over the moon and rushed over to see the child. ‘Looks like we will be busy at night again.’ my tiger, Ash, said in my mind. ‘Oh, and why do you say that?’ I asked him sarcastically. I could feel him rolling his eyes at my question. ‘Just one look at the little cub, and I feel like our mate already wants another cub of her own.’ Just as Ash finished his sentence, Alicia commented “Oh it would be perfect if we had a daughter too, Hector. Little Aurora would be our next child’s bodyguard like Michael is for Anthony.” she said with a smile. Looks like Ash called it. Not that I mind. I would do anything to make my lovely mate happy. I turned to Kevin and said. “We will keep an eye on the demons in Lumus from afar, but I don’t want anyone to give up searching for the royal family. I feel they are out there somewhere, and the Demon King will stop at nothing to kill them and anyone that gets in their way.” Kevin nodded with a bow. Then the four of us watch happily as Michael and Anthony play on the floor with little Aurora.
