The cold night air bit at Jaden's skin as he stepped out of the cabin, the door shutting behind him with a soft click. The forest surrounding the secluded cabin was silent, save for the occasional rustling of leaves carried by the wind. His footsteps crunched against the gravel path as he moved toward his waiting car. The tension from his confrontation with Anna lingered in his chest, but he shoved it aside. He didn't have the luxury to dwell on her anger-not when there were bigger threats to deal with.
As he reached the sleek black SUV parked outside, his phone buzzed in his pocket. Pulling it out, he glanced at the screen. It was Alex, one of his most trusted men.
