Motors and Macarons

1692 Words
Melody’s POV After everything Melody did for Mike, for him to pull this stunt really was the one thing that broke her heart. He knew how much the business meant to her, and to jeopardize it in such a fashion was really the last straw. She spent the rest of the day going through the house and getting the rest of Mike’s things, which wasn’t much after his clothing. It was like he just moved in and left things as they were, not even making his own mark. The only place that really was almost all his was the basement, where his home gym set up was. Movers came by at six that evening with a list from the lawyer what they would be taking and Melody directed them where to go. It took them two hours just to get the exercise machines from the basement. After all was said and done Melody was exhausted and worn out. She went to the living room and sat down on a wingback chair, snacking on some macarons from Monday. Looking back on everything, she should have saw the signs of Mike’s infidelity sooner. Tiffany had always hung on to him when she was around, and she just wrote it off as them knowing each other before she had even met Mike. She would have never of guessed they were fated mates. She sighed heavily, deciding that a few of the macarons were enough and she needed some sleep after all of that drama, so she headed to bed early, intent of doing some at-home investigation tomorrow. Sleep did not come easy to her, but in the end she did get some. She got up at her normal time of five thirty on Sunday morning, ready to tackle the day. She began by stripping the sheets on the bed and deep cleaning almost every room in the house. She wanted even the smallest scent of Mike gone for good. She did some online research while she cleaned about what to do if someone took out a loan without your consent, and it all seemed pretty straight forward. She looked up the name of the bank online to see if they had a website, which they did. Melody checked the hours that they were open and was disappointed to see that they were closed Sundays, but they did have an online link to create appointments with them. After checking the schedule, there was only one space left for two thirty tomorrow. The bank closed at five, so she should have plenty of time to stop by after work. She needed to eventually put in a police report at the station as well. She didn’t know when and if she would have time to do that. Melody got to the spare bedroom at the top of the stairs and opened the door. She couldn’t even remember the last time she went in there. A fine layer of dust coated everything, making Melody wince. This will take too long she sighed to herself. Just as she was about to step foot into the room she heard a noise from out front. Crash, scree, wham! It sounded like someone had wrecked a vehicle. She lived on the edge of the city limits, just outside of town so she was used to people speeding; but no one had ever crashed before. She hurried down the steps and to the front door, sticking her head outside. There in the street were three people on motorcycles and the city mowers cleaning up their equipment. Melody grabbed her cellphone and hurried down her cement path to the street. “Is everyone alright?” She called as she was halfway to the street. She paused as the wind shifted slightly, blowing the scent of the bikers to her. They were werewolf, and definitely not from her pack. She remembered that Alpha Scott had warned them about the bikers in a pack link, assuring everyone that they would be gone by Friday. “f**k, hell no!” The one who was in the accident shouted. “My bike!” The Viking looking biker was hunched on the road, lamenting over his wheels. Goddess, he should be more concerned about the state he is in Melody thought as she took in the scene. The wolf’s leg was bent in three places and the left side of his arm was almost scraped to the bone. “We got this, go on we are fine!” The other two were blocking the mowing teams’ path from going to the other biker, obviously hiding his fast healing rate. The man shooing them on looked to be almost forty and had brown hair and brown eyes. Melody made her way to the Viking, intent on helping hide all of the blood from the humans. “Goddess, my baby…” the man lovingly picked up a broken mirror and looked at it in his hands. “Can I get you anything to help?” She asked again, standing six feet away. The wolf finally looked at her with his baby blue eyes, a slight mist to them. “Oh, thank Goddess you are a wolf! I don’t see you there.” The man’s stomach growled loudly then, almost sounding like a motorcycle itself. “I hate to ask, but do you have anything to eat? I skipped a nice meal this morning to race the jackass behind me.” He indicated the third man, spreading more blood about him; the arm now somewhat knit back together. The third man finally turned around his red hair standing out like a traffic light. “I heard that, i***t. It was your idea to begin with, seeing as how smooth and straight these roads are.” The mowing team had finally been persuaded to drive away, making the other two join them both. “Here, let me go and get something then.” She turned to the house and ran inside. The sooner they were able to clean up all that blood, the less likely someone would try to stop and help. Reaching inside the house, she turned to the macarons she had left over from last night. She had about two dozen left of the assorted cookies; she always brought more home with her when she baked them at the bakery. “These should do, the sugar should make the healing kick in faster.” She handed them to the Viking, who took a handful and shoved them into his mouth. “Thsm arrr mamsjng!” He said through a mouthful of cookies. “Save some for the boss, ya i***t. You might need to get in his good graces now that we might have to stay here until Monday to fix this shit.” The brown haired one said. Viking guy nodded his head in agreement and saved six of the cookies, giving them to the redhead to hold. “Thanks Misses, I feel better already.” The skin had begun to knit faster now, and the leg was almost straight again. He held out his good hand to Melody. “I’m Axel by the way, and this is Chip and Gage.” He said as he pointed to the brown haired one and the red head in turn. “It’s Miss, and no problem.” She looked over the bike. “s**t, that is a mess.” “Yah, I’m going to have to ask our boss to talk with your alpha about extending our stay to fix this mess that the i***t caused.” Chip glared at Axel, visibly pissed at him. “I can link him now if you’d like, so that way he knows to expect him if you’d like.” She offered. “I knew I liked the women in this town,” Gage said with a smile. Melody blushed and linked Alpha Scott. Hello Alpha, I am sorry to intrude; but there has been an accident here on the border in front of my house. Is everything alright? Alpha Scott linked quickly. One of the bikers from the gang wiped out on some fresh cut grass the city workers left in the road, and they are going to ask their boss to talk to you about extending their time to fix it. Melody looked around, waiting for a response and making sure no vehicles were driving their way. They still needed to get rid of all of the blood. I’ll see their leader in the morning, I have a few minutes to spare before your appointment. But it will probably be for only the ones who need to stay here. The pack is too busy as it is right now for the rest of the month. With my wedding and the summit, they have to go. With that, Alpha Scott ended the link to Melody. “He said he has a small opening for appointments before ten thirty tomorrow if your boss can make it.” Melody told the trio. Axel was standing now, propping up his ruined motorcycles. “That should work, right Chip?” Axel asked. “I’ll let the boss know, now let’s go about cleaning up this mess.” The four of them ended up picking up pieces of the bike, and soon enough Melody had her garden hose out and spraying down the street; getting rid of any trace of blood. The trio soon departed as the sun was setting, the ruined bike propped in between the two working ones, Axel and Gage riding tandem. At least they didn’t try to hit on me like the one from the other day Melody thought as she went back inside. She decided to make some doughnut dough for in the morning, knowing that Alpha Scott would be too busy with planning to stop and get something like he normally would on each Monday. She went to bed with the thoughts of the stranger again dancing in her head. He was rather attractive the more she thought about it. Sleep soon fell, and Melody was going to regret having thought of that stranger again.
